Canberra, March 7 (Reuters)- A proposed natural gas pipeline from Papua New Guinea (PNG) to Australia will feature prominently on the agenda for a meeting next week between ministers of the two countries.

The ministers are scheduled to attend the annual Australia-PNG Ministerial Forum in Port Moresby from Sunday.

"This year's forum will focus on the maintenance of an attractive investment climate and progress in advancing arrangements for the PNG-Queensland gas pipeline (among other things)."

Exxon Mobil Corp , Santos Ltd and Oil Search Ltd said last Friday they were in final discussions on feeding natural gas to the Chevron Corp - led pipeline project.

The pipeline, which will cross the Coral Sea to Queensland is expected to generate up to 14.5 percent of the poverty-stricken nation's GDP and create thousands of jobs, according to PNG's government.
