NP says Envoy in takeover talks

Envoy Communications Group Inc ECG
Shares issued 17,840,911 Mar 7 close $8.65
Wed 8 Mar 2000 In the News
The National Post reports in its Wednesday, March 8, edition that Envoy
Communications Group is in takeover talks with a total of six companies,
part of its ambitious growth strategy to double its annual revenue over the
next year. The National Post's Paul Brent writes that Envoy intends to
purchase businesses in Britain, Germany and the United States west coast
this year as part of an effort to boost its revenue to $100-million at the
end of 2000 from a current "run-rate" of $50-million per year. Envoy needs
to quickly develop a presence in the United Kingdom and Germany with the
announcement that design unit, Watt Group, has been appointed lead design
firm for Wal-Mart Stores Inc.'s retail operations in Europe. Envoy will not
divulge the value of the Wal-Mart contract but called it "the single
largest opportunity we have ever been awarded." Watt Group, acquired by
Envoy last year, has worked for the U.S. discount giant for a number of
years and designed the packaging for its Sam's Choice and True Value house
brands product lines.
