Susan:
Whenever I incur margin interest, it's applied against any interest income I have. FYI.

Cheung Wah <0648.HK> to buy 5.57 pct of Goodwill

HONG KONG, March 2 (Reuters) - Cheung Wah Development Co said on Thursday it will fund a HK$78 million acquisition of a 5.57 percent stake in Goodwill Investment (Holdings) Ltd <0378.HK> primarily from proceeds of its share issue to Softbank Corp <9984.T>.

Cheung Wah, which is changing its name to Softbank Investment International (Strategic) Ltd, said in a published statement it will subscribe for 65 million new shares in Goodwill Investment at a price of HK$1.20 per share. Softbank is investing in HK$207.5 million for 61.5 percent of Cheung Wah, a dyestuffs distributor and fabric and garment maker, in a deal to be completed March 10. The locally listed company will serve as an Internet investment vehicle.

Cheung Wah said the Goodwill investment is consistent with its intention to diversify its activities into investment in companies conducting Internet-related activities.

Goodwill Investment aims to become a provider of comprehensive financial and related technology advisory services to Internet and high technology-related companies, it said. ((Hong Kong Newsroom +852 2843-6345, Fax +852 2845-0636 hongkong.newsroom@reuters.com)) .

>>>commisions are always/totally tax deductable<<<

Fees paid to financial planners and money managers can be written off. But stockbroker commissions aren't deductible. Rather, commissions are added to the investment's cost "basis," which reduces your taxable gain when the asset is sold.
