zach, you are dead right. some folks only do cursory overviews and are easily manipulated. if the debt keeps going higher than ther IS NO SURPLUS.

the politicians mingle in social security dollars as they see fit to manipulate the view of cursory people.

Did you note my post script in the post that you replied to? The announcement to retire the debt was made a few weeks back and not last year. You are using old data to refute the Treasuries future intentions.
