Steve, the following is an excerpt from rudedog. I'm sure you already know his credentials. Does this square with your understanding for Rambus demand?

>>There are NO CPQ products which support RAMBUS - nothing, nix, nada - and none in the pipeline. Given CPQ's performance numbers - they currently hold the performance lead in most categories for IA32 architecture - I doubt that will change any time soon. <<

Steve:

I'm out in the field a fair bit. So far, I have not come across anybody who is selling PCs with RMBS aboard. Nor can I find any that have been successful in getting their hands on chipsets that both support RMBS and work properly. Fred Hickey tells me that Dell may have sold a handful, but no more than that, and he also prowls the field.

It is your claim that demand for RMBS in PCs is strong out there. It is my position that so far, it is all hype and next-to-no sales. One of us is obviously wrong or is relying on invalid data. Care to comment on what you have actually seen or what you have actually found with respect to actual sales of RMBS-equipped PCs? Details such as sales location, PC producer, numbers actually sold, etc. would be useful. I am more than willing to be converted, but not without real evidence as opposed to RMBS hype.

At the same time, I invite any other observers/posters out there to provide the thread with evidence that is illustrative of current RMBS sales in PCs. Perhaps I am looking in all the wrong places.

best, Earlie
