Piotr ... About Dell's PR

This PR has nothing new in it. All what they did is take last year data and spin it in a way to show the areas in which they they are leading. I wouldn't think this PR has any impact on the performance of the stock. The following projections from IDC might affect the stock price:

From the article:
Dell, Gateway, Hewlett-Packard and Apple are expected to see strong growth, while Compaq Computer and IBM face hard times, according to IDC.

Compaq's challenges include Dell's direct sales and increasing pressure from HP at retail. But Compaq is not out of the race by any means, Brown said. "They're in this transition, and it's going to take a little time."

IBM's ongoing PC losses could continue, as the Armonk, N.Y.-base computer maker regroups, taking sales direct and launching a new PC line next month.

In the analysts meeting CPQ clearly said that they are not after market share in the commercial PC space because they lose more money with higher volume. When this business becomes profitable (in the second half of 2000) they will gain market share. In the consumer space, they have been doing very well, they increased their revenues by 22% during FY99.
