RESEARCH ALERT-Comverse target raised

TEL AVIV, March 9 (Reuters) - Salomon Smith Barney raised its price target for Israel's
Comverse Technology to $180 a share from $140 a share and also increased its earnings per
share estimates.

Analyst Victor Halpert said in a report he was raising his 2000 EPS estimate to $2.64 from $2.55
after the company reported fourth quarter 1999 EPS of $0.60, above expectations of $0.57.

For 2001 Salomon raised its EPS estimate to $3.18 from $3.07.

Salomon maintained its 2M rating for the share, which already closed above its target,
at $221.25 on Wednesday on Nasdaq.

The company makes communications software and services systems.
