The stores here this year had some wonderful little citrus ( can't think of the name ) imported from Spain. I ate a ton of 'em. The peel just about fell off and inside they were sweet and juicy as all get out.

The navel oranges we get here just suck. Grapefruit is hit or miss.

It can't be the variety as you can move seeds easily. Soil? Climate?

I don't mind Florida oranges. And when I was in Florida for the Orvis fly fishing school I ate the grouper every night.

Here's one for you... Florida raises more cattle than Texas does.
