Epi <I have to admit that I was largely wrong in saying that AMD shouldn't have responded to Intel's announcement. It has turned out to be very good for them so far. I still have mixed feelings about it and was dismayed to learn that they angered some of their partners over supply issues relating to the 1GHz speed grade but I must still admit that things are going better than I thought they would.>

Sorry, I didn't mean to direct that post at you -- just a convenient reply! I also question the wisdom for either vendor to be pushing ahead this fast, even with special releases and premium pricing. Will they keep this pace up and have thinner and thinner releases? And to some extent, both vendors are reliant on outside suppliers and this can make for difficult product transitions (MB, slockets, ceramic packages) due to reduced lead times and short product life cycles.

I just hope AMD continues to be conservative in their projections and public statements so they build their credibility.
