rr5, I get tired out hearing stupid reasons like JDSU residing in two countries for it not in the S and P 500. I see this all over Yahoo and heard it on CNBC yesterday. I can't help posting that there is just reluctance to bring in high P/E stocks OR what we call high fliers into the index. They are basically keeping it a value index.
S and P 500 is very much about value. If you want growth, you have to go to the Nasdaq.

Why is the biggest market cap in the BBH (biotech holders) not in the index while Amgen and Biogen are in? Again, it is revenue and earnings and stability. They just decided to get some representation in the sector and went ahead with these growth stock additions.

Companies like Yahoo and AOL took longer to get in due to their low earnings combined with low revenues. I think they are afraid of introducing such a huge market caps into the index so they stuck with a 5billion company today. They want to be sure!

I am still sticking to my list for when they decide to put in the next growth oriented tech stock.

I am still convinced that it will only be a matter of a few months at the most.

OK , I am all tired out about the S and P. Unless someone else brings it up, I won't discuss it for a while.
