heinz,,, tobacco is one hell of an addicting substance...and i think some of us are more prone than others...i've used it in the past and am addict...i think i need to join nicotine anonymous to get over this thing....i'm not using it now,,,but it wouldn't be hard to start...-ng- maybe one of them genome companies can fix my chromosomes so that i have a distaste for it....-g- anyway...the tobacco stocks are treated like lepers...from a value perspective...i love it. companies like RJR has a ton going for it aside from tobacco....and one of these days,,,the street will realize that....until then...it's very easy to sleep at night knowing that this stock won't go up 30 or down 30....and that's not a bad thing to have. mike ps...if it wants to up 30 in a year...that'd be cool, too..-vbg-

The problem is, adults start smoking as adolescents or younger. Is there anything more conformist than an adolescent? Tobacco has a bad name lately, but it's amazing to think what an important role it has played in making the US what it is. In fact, I believe while it was the tea tax that set the powders off, it was really tobacco that the colonists were pissed about - Jefferson, et al all had plantations. The tobacco industry was probably the first to use sophisticated marketing and product engineering, it's made the US a real fortune over time.
