I guess I show my age when I remember the IBM AT/XT, vs. the Apple IIe. But this may have been 1984 though. MSFT wasn't public then.

Most of those big names haven't done well as late. The strength has been in the B2B facilitators and software providers as well as the incubators and internet advertising stocks. This mania has had the advantage over the prior manias in that it can spawn new concepts (sub-manias) within the overall internet umbrella.
