All kidding aside, I think Andreas' point is right on:

Compaq's IR/PR department gets an 'F' for creating and driving investor perception. The company needs to stop just talking about the internet and appliances and begin to take IDC's numbers and make some bold predictions as to how the trends will drive the bottom line in the next few years. Of course they have to execute in the short term as well, but they need to drive investor perception about the future NOW. They either don't know what to expect, have no confidence in themselves, or don't know how to communicate to investors what it is they believe about their future business as a result of the trends.
