A summary of the play that MVEE just got the screen rights to: The farce's plot centers on Henry Perkins, a mild-mannered office drone who one evening, on his birthday, rushes into his middle-class London suburban home with a briefcase he had mistaken for his own. The mistaken briefcase contains 735,000 pounds in cash, and, as soon he dashes into his living room, Henry is on the phone booking first-class tickets for himself and his wife Jean for a quick escape to Barcelona. Fearing the briefcase belongs to a thief, whom Henry nicknames "Mr. Nasty," he wants to get out of there fast. First, however, he has to deal with his friends Betty and Vic (who have come over for a birthday dinner), hire a sassy cab driver to take them to the airport, pay off a detective who believes Henry has been soliciting in a pub lavatory, befuddle another detective who believes Henry has been murdered, and, finally, get rid of Mr. Nasty himself. The cascading complications force Henry to create a series of fibs, one of which involves Australian sheep-farming in-laws.
