In sorting things into "best of times" and "worst of times" buckets, I'd have to put grocery stores onto the best of bucket. Even in just the past 5 years the quality and variety has gotten better.

They really are the best argument for the magic of free markets. What's more important than food? We trust markets to provide us with it and they perform marvelously.

Why don't we trust it to supply health care? Or K-12 education?
