Agilent Technologies, Inc. produces instruments and semiconductors for the communications, electronics, life sciences, and healthcare industries. Agilent makes test, measurement, and monitoring instruments and systems for the design and production of electronic and communication devices, and software for the design of such devices. Agilent also makes fiber- optic communications devices, application-specific integrated circuits, optoelectronic devices, and image sensors. For the healthcare and life sciences markets, Agilent makes mass spectroscopy, gas and liquid chromatography, and biochemical analysis instruments, as well as ultrasound imaging, patient monitoring, and cardiology systems. The company was spun off by Hewlett-Packard in November 1999.
