Crazy market?
The market definitely behaves crazy in the sense that its totally driven by momentum.A stock, even with good fundamentals can sit around with forever or even go down as investors go elsewhere for the quick buck. This is the funny part with this white hot market - there are lots of companies around with very nice fundamentals but dirt cheap.
The investment criteria are as follows:
1) Affiliation with attractive market sectors
4) Improving fundamentals
2) Negligeable or even better negative analyst coverage
3) Small debt or even better net cash position
4) Inactive message boards

My current favorites:
a) Pseudo "old economy" (moneymaking)biotechs: Biochem,Alza
b) Drug companies
b) probably soon: insurance & finance sector companies

I think the market is as good as it gets for a value oriented investor with a nose for current trends. If I would only know what the crowd likes tomorrow...

Heinz:

Good comments.

While I am always early, it sure is starting to look like a liquidity crunch is spreading across the market. What I like is the ferocity of the markets when faced with even a mild "warning". With tech sector warnings time at hand, and the semi/PC scene continuing to deteriorate, the next few weeks could be nasty.

I also can't help but grin a bit as one sector after another is taken out and shot, yet the sheep keep on bleating about how wonderful this bull market is.
- Coke down by half. Wasn't it last year's sweetheart?
- GE whacked by a quarter. Forget it, as it is "old economy".
- MSFT, and IBM amputated for 25% of their values? My oh my, the silence is deafening.

My only hope is that the bear remains relatively stealthy, so as to provide a series of short targets rather than one swift all-encompassing crash.

Can't wait to see the Investors' Daily Mutual Fund chart at month end. (g)

Best, Earlie
