Oops! . . .Summer Port Public now. . . . . .http://www.siliconinvestor.com/portfolio/detail.gsp?pid=9143119

Again, this is designed as a "safer" port to withstand the summer doldrums. Our aggressive long tech stock oriented ports may still perform well and may even beat the performance of this safer port over the summer. . .but this is about reducing risk. . . now that we have all made extraordinary gains, we want to preserve them and not be quick to give them back. . .so we build bulletproof portfolios for ourselves. .. or we hedge our tech investments by shorting the QQQ, etc. What we don't do is stare into the headlights. . . that always ends ugly.

For those that still don't understand, the summer is traditionally and historically a time of consolidation for tech stocks. . . November to April is where the bull run gains are made for the year. . . April to November tends to be bearish [lower volume, less volatility and weaker prices in tech stocks] . . . the idea is to take your money out in April, buy up the best tech companies in August, then sell them again in February or March. . .

The history of this sort of market timing is well established and is not expected to change much. . .remember the Wall Street fat cats leave in May/June for Europe or wherever.. .and do not return until September/October. . .which explains why summer volume is always so weak. . . except for a very brief rally ahead of July earnings.
