<Li is not letting us down! > In my research in Jan. -Feb., it appeared absolutely clear that Richard Li was already lining-up lucrative agreements, with the assumption that he would get the C&W 54% of HKTel. In the "bidding war," Li had to win; because of what he's already been arranging. Of course, this is JMHO {and the basis for why I am long in this stock}.

Taiwan Cellular, HK's Pacific Century in ADR talks

TAIPEI, March 9 (Reuters) - Taiwan Cellular Corp said on Thursday it was in talks with Hong Kong's Pacific Century CyberWorks Ltd <1186.HK> (PCCW) to jointly issue American Depositary Receipts (ADRs).

Details of the issue had yet to be worked out. "We are in the early stage of talks. It's too early to say when the deal will be finalised," said an executive with Taiwan Cellular.

She declined to give further details.

Local newspapers said Taiwan Cellular was considering setting up a holding company with Pacific Century to jointly issue ADRs. The executive said Taiwan Cellular had applied for a listing in Taiwan's over-the-counter exchange and was bidding for fixed-line network licences.

Taiwan Cellular would not make any decision on the ADR issue until the government announced the winners of the fixed-line network on March 19. Taiwan Cellular is Taiwan's main mobile phone service operator with 3.4 million subscribers as of February.

Previously known as Pacific Cellular, it is a subsidiary of copper wire maker Pacific Wire & Cable <1602.TW>.
