The Media has to have something to talk about, otherwise there would be no need for media, (don't believe everything read). Yes I agree with you that the media causes a lot of the nervousness.

I think you're a nutcase.

I don't know what channel you've been watching, but the CNBC i see every day is a relentless cheerleader for the market. Maria Bartiromo (obviously using her high-school cheerleader skills to their fullest) has never said anything negative about a stock. I can't remember the last time they had an analyst say anything negative about a stock.

Do you have a point? Not in my opinion.

I have always seen CNBC as overly optimistic, characterising an up market as "good" and a down market as either "bad" or a "buying opportunity," with little if any coverage of short selling and/or put buying activities, opportunities, etc. IMHO, they should report the news and be ambivalent to the market direction OR offer as close to equal coverage as possible on the money making opportunities south.
