Looks like it's going to have to be the horse's head between the sheets for Microsoft then. Consigliore, get on the next plane for Seattle.

That article did come out 2 days ago as you say. Real announcement tomorrow. I would bet it won't compete well with PS2. Sony's betting the company on that one.

John,<<<Microsoft chairman Bill Gates is scheduled to talk about the console, code-named the "X-Box", at an event in San Jose, Calif., on Friday. The X-Box will compete against Sony's PlayStation 2, which was released in Tokyo last weekend. Due in late 2001, the X-box essentially will let consumers play games and, in all probability, provide simplified ways to browse the Internet or receive email, just like the latest PlayStation.>>>

Bill has handed over all CEO duties to Ballmer and is now going back to his roots. He is the CTO on this product. Based on past history, Bill has never been a great technology guru. What he does best is copy others and making it better over time.

The x-box is not due until late 2001. Does any of this stuff come out on time? Does he ever get it right the first time out? What can we expect from x-box v.1.0?

With the exception of Intel, does any of MSFT partners ever make out and make money teaming with MSFT?

I hope Amy hasn't left us. She knows quite a lot about this stuff. I would like to hear what she thinks.

When she does come back, I hope the yahoo's on this thread would behave themselves.

I have recently been sampling the Yahoo, Motley Fool, and some of the other message boards - a lot of garbage get posted.

Thanks to you, Paul, Tony, Amy, PB, John H, and all the others that post on this thread, this thread is still readable and where you can pick up a lot of valuable and useful information.

Mary
