National Discount Brokers Edges Past DLJdirect and Newcomer Merrill Lynch to Take Top Spot in Barron's Fifth Annual Online Broker Survey

Here we go! Released at 4:25, so technically hasn't been entirely factored in (was some nice after-hours movement). Bodes well for Monday when everyone reads this on-line and/or in Barron's print.

The March 13th edition of Barron's, on sale and online (http://www.barrons.com/) tomorrow, reports that National Discount Brokers is the best Web site for trading stocks online. Barron's' fifth annual review of online brokers ranks the top twenty-five sites and lists the factors that make the Web the hottest of contemporary marketplaces. Last year's winner, DLJdirect, was ranked second, in a dead heat with the recently launched Merrill Lynch Direct site. All three sites were awarded four stars, the
highest rating.

Great news for NDB stockholders, but I'm in the midst of opening my account! In the Barron's article they apologize in advance for potentially overwhelming NDB with news accounts and transfers so that their service suffers...apparently it happened to DLJ last year when they were listed as #1. Was just about to transfer my long term accounts and was hoping it could be done quickly!!! Oh well...
