W2k crashed on me last night and NT4 had never done that in the two years I used it. I mean I had to use the power switch to get out. I also have had problems with my sound card being missed and the incorrect printer drivers being loaded. It's slower than NT4 but the creeping featuritis makes it more fun to watch while I wait. Planning on upgrading to PIII FCPGA 600 and 256k ram to increase performance. I would get a new video card if W2k supported any of the latest cards worth a s%#@, but it doesn't. If I would have paid anything for this I would have been disappointed but since MS and Office Max gave it to me I feel alright. Albeit about $300 poorer after the upgrades.

twister, since you don't need to dual boot, just go buy Mandrake 7.0 Linux in the box, turn off Plug and Pray and on CD boot in your BIOS, put the CD in, reboot, and keep hitting <enter> while mindlessly thumbing through the manual. -- Re: competition- Yes, if M$ sold hardware instead of commodity electrons (OS/Office suite) at monopoly prices, they might *be competition. Instead, they're just *lunch*. Re: the financials- I believe that GE Capital will end up owning everything. My one bank stock is WABC. I could see where one might be a net buyer of financial stocks these days (good values). -JCJ
