ROFL, Thanks for reminding me. True in spirit, but ASCAP (the R is silent) gets credit for that one: ascap.com As for paying the few groups who make millions for them, the music business pettifoggers and copyright claim jumpers didn't even have to do that at one time. Witness the great R&B and doo-wop groups who received peanuts. Regardless, I do think the real scare to the RIAA members is the fact that many talented artists and super labor-of-love recording studios are going to be able to bypass the marketing Lords and traditional toll gates to reach a huge market.
