t is possible for a company to be a "Gorilla for a day,"

Not only possible, but an intrinsic part of the process. The only reason that some gorilla's hang on for extended periods is that they use their gorilla position to both consolidate the market they have and to innovate new tornados. Gorillas are strong enough that "for a day" is too short a time frame since their hold is not lightly displaced by new technology, but "for a while", unless renewed, is very much a part of the concept.
