I'm not convinced even from a pragmatic political point of view that he's the smartest VP choice.

Look, despite his recent rhetoric, he's still a white male conservative pro-lifer from the Bush's neck of the woods.

The problem is that McCain is an old fart and at 63 this is his last act. And McCain knows it.

A Reagan could run in his late 60's because he looked a decade younger and had a real platform and a firm base of support.

McCain can't sustain his angry man act that long and he looks very old, a decade older than 63 despite his recent face peel.

Forget the idea of McCain as VP. I can't imagine him accepting the position. And if he did, his supporters would lose at least some of their respect for him. I would.

For McCain, '99 is like Reagan's '76. Should Reagan have finagled to be Ford's VP? Hell no.
