I do not think there are any plans on Loral's part to spin off G*. In fact I think they are as committed to it as ever. There are gaurantees in place, Telstar 7 revenues pledged and all sorts of complexities. That is not going to happen. Cyberstar is another story. That could happen and could be a good deal.

Re: the Harley. G* has nothing to do with that. G* USA has everything to do with that. They are two different companies. G* USA (VodAirtouch)was admitted to the partnership because they know how to market telecommunications. That is what they are good at. It is very obvious that Lor/G* can't promote their way out of a wet paper bag so I am glad Airtouch is doing the job. My money says they will pull it off. They have before. They only have 35 million wireless customers worldwide as proof.

Let's put this into perspective. The stock is trading today at about the same price if not a little higher than it was a year ago when it had no revenue. (I guess we could drop another few pts in the am after Marc Nabi dumps his rating to nuetral. He maintains outperform on Loral.) G* has a least 25 mil in revenue now due to the pre-sold minutes. The commercial launch is barely two weeks old. The soft launch crap that BS was touting last fall was just that. To the sp's last fall was training camp only. The season has just now started as far as G* USA and the rest of the sp's are concerned. BS alluded to that in the cc. He said they have been pressing the sp's to ramp up quicker and the sp's have been saying leave us alone. BS even said looking back, G* USA's decision to launch in New Orleans rather than sooner was the right decision.

Where is it all going IMO? I said in several posts back that WS expectations will be higher than reality in the short run and we will be hammered. I knew it. I was kinda hoping I would be wrong. I guess I was right. I also did not veiw McCaw's leaving Iridium high and dry in the short run a good deal either. The naive investors are simply saying Iridium=satphone=bankruptcy therefore G*=satphone=probable bankruptcy. I think they are full of sh... The comparison is faulted. As Robert Kaimowitz (ING) said last week in his interview, he had a sell rating on Iridium before it even went public. He owns both Lor and G*. We all know the vast differences with the two business plans.

I am miffed about my net worth crashing although it is really not that much lower than it was a year ago. G* is a little up and Lor and little down. I put much of the blame for this on Loral's inability to promote themselves and get their message out. Marketing gurus they ain't! And they should have brainstormed with the sp's harder all last year than they apparently have. But in the end they will prevail. As Jon pointed out, they have put up a world wide telecommunications infrastructure for a fraction of the cost of what AT&T has done in the US. I don't think BS was BSing us when he said they will make things up in the last half of the year. I think they will.

Ok Maurice, how was that for a rant?
