LOL!! You're a real piece of work. You tell me I'm wrong yet post not data. Now that's a bust in the pants.!!! LOL!!!

I can guarantee you that I know far more about MSFT in my pinky than you would ever hope to know. HAAA!!!

Here is the URL for the technologies added to W2K

microsoft.com

Of these it was Directory that Microsoft spent 80% of their resources on and it was directory that was the gating project for W2K. Without Directory W2K was a yawn. Load Balancing and Clustering are functions added in support of Directory. The networking stuff was enhancments from the Steelhead product - and mainly targeted at directory to position it take functionality resident in the network and move it to the edge.... Security as well - although some of this was targeted at VPN's.

Got anything of value to add?

They want to integrate every servers in the world as part of the OS.

???? Huh? What are you talking about? Microsoft wants to own every server... is that what you mean? If that's what you mean then you're saying exactly the same thing I just said... Going after the market where Sun is today... not going after the desktop where they already have market ownership. But if you know Microsoft they want the OS everywhere... everywhere there is an OS they want it. Guess what else that means??? Which brings us to the original discussion.

handhelds and your upsupported claim of vaporware???

Can you support your claims that this is vaporware. I have to say that I'm not typically this volatile on a thread... but I find it humorous how the discussions on this thread are so far out of mainstream thinking.. Those that venture out (you know who you are) have a more grounded view of the world.. But it appears there are a lot of 3Com employees here and ..... well..... it's pretty clear to me why the company is an abysmal failure. They haven't got a clue. Do you work for 3Com too?

Oh.. fwiw...

Since you have been bad mouthing this company including PALM for the past two+ years

Once again... false information. I started "discussions" on this thread in May 99 - not two years. I bad mouthed the company then and have been consistent about it and have been right all along. I bought just befor the announcement of the PALM spin-off because I knew the speculators would come in. I never confuse company performance with stock perforamnce and if you think for a second that the recent run-up has anything to do with anything else but the PALM speculation then you're in serious trouble as an investor. That being said, I never bad mouthed PALM. I did say they had challenges but I never bad mouthed them... Is posting erroneous information a habit for you????

Pathetic. YOu and Mehrdad should go drink a beer.
