The only problem about having a daily target is that it forces you to trade everyday. One of my favorite quotes from the market wizard from an individual (can't remember which guru) who said

"I just wait for the money to be sitting in the corner and walk over and scoop it up".

In other words I think it is more important to sit back and wait for the perfect trades to come along instead of forcing a number on yourself. If this means not making a trade for 1-2 days so be it. Of course lately there have been so many plays that money is sitting in every corner. However 6 months from now it may go back to the old ways which was a lot more difficult to trade.

Just my random thoughts.

Best Regards
KEITH

S.G.: I have a full-time evening job and I do some daytrading during morning and early afternoon about three or four days a week. I don't have a target. I may not trade for the whole day but I may buy and sell the same stock couple times in a day. I seldom hold a stock overnight because I don't know tomorrow I need to go to work early or I need to do some other things. For my daytrading, I usually buy the stocks from the "hot sector". Before it was mining, energy, finance, and for the last few months, the tech and bio sector.

When I started my daytrading few years ago, I lost some money but as I knew more and more about the market and with more experience, I make money every month and sometimes it is a lot more than my job especially when we have a "hot sector". It seems the money come in everyday. Sometimes my friends ask me why I still keep my job. I work in the computer field and I do like my job. If I stay at home, who will buy a mainframe for me so I can fool around with it?

Hopefully we all continue to make some money.
