thanks for the insight. i'd say that's fairly obvious to anyone who uses a computer. my goal is to find a browser that isn't prone to crashing. imo, netscape is developing a reputation for crashing. your suggestion to "re-install the OS and all the programs" is a bit much for me, thanks. my system is relatively new (not yet 4 months) and the problems i encounter appear to be netscape-related. of course one can say that all applications and programs overlap and ultimately contribute to a system's stability or lack thereof, but if msie runs and doesn't crash, i'm pointing the finger at netscape.

i'm also a long way from "once they really start running bad, slow, crashy, locking-up constantly". i believe i said the browser crashes once a day.
