For anyone with a genuine interest in this topic, three small Australian listed stocks that took off after this story was published see Geo2 Ltd "GEL" a real company with real products, went from 25 cents to 90 cents and now 41 cents. This company has a process called GPP for cleaning up acid minewater and extracting the metals in a filtrate cake. Has carried out several succesful trials for the US EPA. Is also developing a non-cyanide gold leach process which is undergoing trials in China. A modified form of this process is incorporated into a US JV which will be building a pilot plant in the US shortly to extract metals and plastics from scrap circuit boards. Geo2 is an environmental remediation company which has an array of oil/water, liquid separation and soil remediation products which it has started selling to major corporations (sales growth +100% p.a.). Their OWS process appears to be applicable to unecononmic waterfilled oil fields Plans to list on NASDAQ.

Electrometals "EMM" capitalized at a tiny US$7.8M has an EMEW cell which is a new type of electrowinning cell for extracting all metals. Has contracts with Freeport and has built several pilot plants at Grasberg, a major contract is pending. Has contracts with Asarco and they have already installed the technology in several of their refineries. Looking for a deal from GM to recover palladium from used catalytic converters for cars. Other companies such as BHP, Intel (recovering metal from bad circuit boards) and Noranda are also in trials. This stock went from 14 cents to 50 cents and is currently 38 cents. This stock has potential IMHO to really fly due to its very long list of MAJOR clients, proven technology, VERY SMALL MARKET CAP. Another factor is that the stock is totally unknown to the investing public due to its Queensland Gold Coast location and until very recently was very, very thinly traded.

Virotech "VTI" went from 12 cents to $1.50 and now around $1.25. This is the least advanced and the most hyped of the three and has no commercialized technology but has published results from some trials.

I will start a new thread covering this topic if anyone is interested as the potential for some of these stocks is very interesting.
