OT dmccoach,

Yesterday CNBC mentioned the NASDAQ now has a trailing PE of 200. Does it really even matter anymore? Pure insanity....

Sorry, I have been avoiding the Naz for awhile now so don't know where the good info is anymore.

Was thinking about the naz and financials last night. I am avoiding the financials for the time being. I can realistically see the following scenario unfolding:

Consumers are spending profits from the Naz runup, but many are not actually pulling those profits from the market. Consumers are also using margin heavily, and many have taken out loans and second mortgages to invest. IF the market actually crashes suddenly (say China invades Taiwan, the major worldwide supplier of DRAM), several things will happen

1. Most folks won't be able to trade by any means.
2. Funds and institutions with reps on the floor will be able to trade, and will sell techs first (they aren't fools).
3. Prices will drop like a lead balloon on the ridiculously overpriced techs.
4. 10 % of those investing in techs will realize the paper riches. The other 90% will have MASSIVE, MASSIVE losses
5. Bankruptcies will skyrocket as these overleveraged, high debt folks lose everything.
6. Recession and/or depression will ensue.

Value will again become important for those who still have anything left to invest.
