Nat, I could not agree with you more on many points. There are other things to consider as well that have not been mentioned regarding Palm vs WinCE. 1) MSFT has announced a new software as you have stated, no one has stepped up to the plate to say that they are actually building one. I just don't see CPQ, HP or Casio as being powerhouses in this space, Palm is much more focused. Phillips killed the Nino, the once crowned "Palm Killer". 2) Retail Space. How can MSFT leverage their OS to get more shelf space vs Palm? If I was a retailer how much shelf space would I give to a CE device vs. Palm. Not very much if at all. You have to sell them to get shelf space and I view the Palm IIIc as a big alternative to CE devices. 3) Focus,Focus,Focus. Friends come and go but enemies accumulate. The companies who are piling onto the PALM OS are far more focused then the ones who use CE. Case and Point, Sega Dreamcast was supposed to be CE's killer App and no one wrote any software for the CE code, they chose Sega's. Now MSFT has to build their own game player to get into that space, and I am sure they didn't even give Sega the courtesy of a reach around while they were laying the pipe to them. 4) Why would anyone port an application to CE if there is no demand for it? I imagine that if there is a demand for it they will port it but until then it will just be Microsoft programs. Adobe will be porting Acrobat (PDF) to Palm. With the upcoming Mac OSX that saves all documents native as PDF, this means any document on your Mac can be viewed on a Palm. Didn't they rename CE as Pocket PC because the WinCE was known as wince referring to its frequent crashes? Didn't 3com sue Microsoft a few years ago because they tried to Hijack the Palm name from 3com? Wasn't it Palmtop or something like that. I can not find the press releases on that. These are all relevant points. Regards, Jeff
