Rowan Wins PanCanadian Contract to Drill Off Nova Scotia

Houston, March 10 (Bloomberg) -- Rowan Cos., a U.S. oil and
natural-gas driller, said it won a contract valued at as much as
$41 million to drill off Nova Scotia for PanCanadian Petroleum
Ltd.

Two of Houston-based Rowan's offshore rigs, Gorilla III and
Super Gorilla V, will operate for up to a year on PanCanadian
properties near Exxon Mobil Corp.'s Sable Island gas project.

Calgary, Alberta-based PanCanadian, one of Canada's biggest
oil companies, said Feb. 24 that two test wells drilled 20 miles
from Sable Island produced about 107 million cubic feet of gas a
day.

Rowan had sales of $460.6 million last year. Its shares rose
1 13/16 to 27 5/8 in midday trading.

PanCanadian, which is 87 percent-owned by Canadian Pacific
Ltd., fell C$0.05 to C$23.80 in Toronto.
