regroupthink
It's becoming obvious that we don't group think: read the messages after LB's announcement of selling Qcom and see all the differing reactions.

Again, while I agree with much of your post, this isn't a very accurate use of the term "groupthink". It is a construct that describes a certain form of group behavior that at times is stronger on this thread than at others. I agree that there is a divergence of opinion about QCOM these days and that is healthy for the thread. I don't think that there IS or IS NOT groupthink on the thread, as I don't think that a decision about it as to whether it does or does not exist as a quantitative bipolar construct is very useful. However, our recognition of it as a danger and one that exists along a more qualitative continuum will better serve us in the long run. Sorry for the soapbox diatribe, just want to keep our thinking (and definitions) precise...

freesus,

Amen!

Patience? Who needs that?

Seriously though, I consider my best buys in recent years the times I have picked up ORCL during its basing period after its quarterly "misses" and the same for AMAT during its basing period during the supossed "bust" cycle.

Gloom and doom everywhere. Perfect time to buy. Current QCOM situation smells similar.

And remember, we have a gorilla here...how quickly we forget.

We should take advantage of the fact that we don't have to communicate quarterly results...we actually have the luxury of looking more than one quarter out.

God forbid.
