Greg,

Whats left after Palm is actually quite a big debate. Quite a few people are here for Palm and will dump after they get their shares. The consensus is that the core business is going no where. Others seem to think that 3Com is in the beginning of a new growth phase. Gigabit ethernet, Cable modems, ADSL, as well as home networking, all fast growing markets that 3com can leverage their good name and channel space to grow in. Also there is wireless data, they just announced a partnership with Samsung for CDMA/DATA.

There is much debate about management as well. Some say he (Eric Behenamou)is visionary, most say he is a liability that squandered his opportunity and as long as he is at the helm then this ship is going down. I personally believe that management knows that it is the bottom of the ninth and they have a full count, one man on and down by a run. They have to hit a homerun because one more strike will put them out of the game forever. To not distribute full Palm shares (1.5 to 1 ratio) is a one way train to Hell and they will never come back.

FWIW, I plan on holding to see how things develop. I've held for 3+ years now so what is 1 or 2 more. Things have a funny way of coming around, I remember when you could not gi ve away cable stocks like TCI and now they are coveted assets because technology and the markets change so fast.
Stick a monkey at a keyboard and sooner or later it will spell a word. I think this monkey(3Com) very well may have some dumb luck.

Regards,
Jeff
