<<That's what's nice about the new iMacs, they're almost silent. Jobs mandated that all fans be removed and the casing be designed to cool adequately without them. Only thing you hear is the hard drive.>>

I was marveling at that in the office the other night. I've seen the iMac, even tinkered with some applications on it.

The other night, I had my hand over the top and realized it was really HOT!

I thought, this CAN'T be good. So I checked out the side of the machine - room temperature. I checked the bottom of the machine. REALLY COOL!

They engineered the machine to funnel all the heat through the top without using fans or other moving parts!

I suspect that they didn't call on your run-of-the-mill mechanical engineers on this. They must have had a good thermodynamic specialist to map out convection current models.

Or just looked at how popcorn makers are designed.

Next step "How to grill chicken on the top of an iMac"

Or How's about this?

They can make the iMac case hollow or line it with hollow capillaries. Then, fill it with the same stuff they make lava lamps out of and backlight it with a small LED. I think that would be so cool!

Another million dollar idea given away by Bill HooFatt.

Just wanted to tell people that the APC has a Mac user survey, and we need to get as many Mac users as possible to let them know we want better support. APC makes UPS (uninterruptible power supply) and other power protection devices, but their Mac support has been quite lacking lately. Versions of their PowerChute software have lagged way behind current Mac OS revisions, and they still offer no Mac USB connections for monitoring. They make some of the best equipment in the business, but if you want them to work on the Mac like they do on the PC, let them know.

If you haven't filled it out yet, please go to:
