Hi James,

How are you?

How many are being taught this type of doctrine in our Churches today?

If you are speaking of the story as told by lewis7, I guess the scripture I would use here is this one.

Hebrews 12:1-2
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Is it a doctrine that Christ would have us follow?

As doctrine is, at it's base, teaching or instruction, I find no disharmony with Christ's teachings or Paul's, or James. Different audience surely. Different method maybe. Different message , no.

Does He want us to work for our Salvation?

Absolutely not. Having said that, I believe that many people consider for themselves what is work or what is not. Some consider "work" as something only physically done. Why would that be? Is not thought also work?

If "work" cannot be done to attain salvation, then one, IMO, must not have thoughts or speech or lifestyle of one saved . For if one does, one has "worked"

Look at action deemed good and right by our Apostle Paul.

<< I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought.>>

IMO three works.

<<Yes, I also baptized the household of Stephanas; beyond that, I don't remember if I baptized anyone else.)>>

WHOAH...a biggie..IMO work.

<<The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor.>>

IMO....work.

I will not belabor the obvious with Paul, as you can see I only just touched a little of one letter(BTW the letter itself could be construed as "work"). I am only saying these words IMO do not conflict with God's saving grace. For as we know it is by grace you are saved.

I noticed at the end of your message to me, you said that anyone that believes any other than what PAUL gave......then you concluded with a scripture from PETER..(do you see that as conflict)?

Thank God for your posts in love.
