I think 1GHz chips will be in volume when the design center moves there. That is a silicon process thing and since the previous Intel schedule was 3Q00, I would expect that's when Intel volume would be there too. Of course if you can center on 1GHz you can cherry pick 1.3GHz parts. AMD may actually have a design center closer to that now, since they were doing 850 and 900 parts in volume - Intel is still having problems getting the PIII center up to 800. But when intel does volume, they do VOLUME...
