Steve Lee: Your analysis assumes that SUNW's market share of the Internet's infrastructure is irrelevant. It's like the argument that Sun is replaceable by say HWP or IBM. This is like saying Ford is replaceable by Daimler Chrylser or GM. The fact remains: SUNW built a dominant position in the Internet through servers and software which have unique qualities. I emphasize, "UNIQUE". The SUNW brand is pervasive and users of SUNW's technology are tied in to SUNW through service support and upgrade requirements.

Will SUNW go away ? I don't think so!

you also could remove csco's hardware and we would get along just fine. Now, take away my Cherry Coke and we would really be up a creek. <g>

Steve,

You ever hear of Nortel Networks?? If you hadn't you aren't doing your homework. Even CSCO admitted in the last CC that they are concerned about Nortel. Once again looking at what you want and ignoring the rest. It's amazing how a university science education teaches one to think critically.
