I think your getting intrusions and attempts confused. BI will report and block every attempted connection to your machine, whether accidental or intended by someone out there in cyberspace. Just because it shows up in the BI log and your icon is flashing red, does not mean that someone has hacked into your PC and is running wild. Most likely nothing has happen other than an attempt that was blocked.

Re: Quake3. When you use GameSpy or ArenaSpy, you essentially ping either a few fav. servers or thousands of them. What I believe happens is the game servers attempt to communicate back to your machine through the necessary game port on your machine which lies in the UDP range of 27,000ñ. And since BI considers attempts in this same range as a possible intrusion, it automatically logs it and gives you the impression that someone is attacking you when it is just the game server communicating with your PC. IMHO, I wouldn't worry about it.

Try the following security sites which will scan your PC and list your vulnerabilities. The reports should describe your machine as secure like mine does w/ BI running. Also, try scanning your PC without BlackIce running so you get an idea of what it's doing.

are you finding any intrusions when you are playing Q3?

If you have questions or concerns that I didn't clear up, ask away and either I or someone here will help you out.
