I also find it very interesting given that I work for a wholesale supplier of electricity.

As I have been telling the folks I work with -- everything I read says that methane is makes up about 1/3 of the greenhouse gas emissions (CO2 the other 2/3) and power plants are responsible for about 1/3 of the CO2 emitted (Poewr plant are 2/9 of the problem).

Folks (Gore et al) that want to slap on a CO2 tax are simply looking for another source of tax revenue -- not a real solution to the problem. There is another article that you might find interesting.

sciam.com

I'll see if I can find it -- it is on CO2 entrapment --- removing CO2 is very costly -- it isn't like just adding a scrubber for SO2 or catalyst and Ammonia for NOX ...

These folks are a lot like a guy I worked with when I was in regulation -- he was always trying to use regulation to induce electric utilities to offer incentives to reduce sales .... Duuuuhh!

A few weeks ago I had a lot of incandescent bulbs go out in a fixure in the room I have my computer in -- I thought -- my electric bill is too high.

So I took a look at compact flourescents -- soemthing this guy was always pushing utilities to subsidize. I bought 4 of them at $8 a pop -- they are all 15 watt but supposed put out as much light as a 60 W incandescent and last 7,000 hours.

I liked them quite a bit and thought there were a number of other fixures around the house that I might do the same when the current incandescent bulbs fail.

Well I called up my old coworker -- thinking he was Mr. energy savings and would know the best price and place to get them --- I called him up -- he didn't know js -- this is the way it is with a lot of environmentalists -- they are all for something, but have no real information.

Gore is an idiot. I don't like the repubs either, but if this guy had a chance -- he could wreck our economy even without the credit bubble. He's got a lot of ideas that are "good for other people" if you know what I mean ...
