My 2c on starting capital:

Some people catch on quicker than others. The important thing is to still have capital or a way of getting it once you do catch on. And not to have lost the will.

It takes experience to see opportunity in the market. It's like picking cucumbers: Someone who has been doing it a long time has his eyes acclimated to the leaves and vines and dirt and the little signs of color, pattern and size that let him spot the ripe ones.
