Remember an awful lot of Iridium phones were sold as Y2K contingency kits and (apparently) never used. Anyway, based on Irid's revenues the average $/unit is very, very low. That may be the reason G* isn't advocating a wholesale swap out of G* phones for Iridium's. G* needs to find the people who were using airtime (or would have if the Irid QofS had been better) not just throw money at everyone that's prepared to turn in an Irid phone for a G* model.
