<<Microsoft is simply applying the economics of the PC industry to the game console industry which has hitherto been a clubby place with comparitively little competition.>>

Dell, PS2 is $370. So MSFT is looking to triple the cost of a game console??

Sony is seeking to apply an AOL-type model to the game industry, aiming to develop a direct and unmatched relationship with its owners in the same sense that AOL has with its 21 million subscribers. 1 in 4 U.S. households have the orgianal PS.

(BTW, don't forget- MS will need games developed, too!)
