Fed expected to add reserves via system RPs
NEW YORK, March 10 (Reuters) - The Federal Reserve could add temporary reserves to the banking system on Friday through term or weekend system repurchase agreements, analysts said.

With federal funds trading at 5-11/16 percent, below the Fed's 5-3/4 percent target for the rate, the Fed could also refrain from open market operations, they said.

``They could do nothing. They could do a weekend system RP,' said Carol Stone, senior economist at Nomura Securities.

Stone said the Fed could also add temporary reserves through 13-day system repurchases, as they have done on the first Friday of the two-week reserve maintenance period in the last couple of maintenance periods.

``A 13-day RP wouldn't be a surprise either,' she said. ``They do have an add need (during the period) so they could do a longer operation.'

Low post ratio again this weekend = no fear in the market... volatility yes, fear...no way<gggg>
