I just went back to re-listen to the Aware conference call from there year end earnings. Several things really struck me as major positives.

1. The great revenues they had from their quarter that ended in December of 1999 was based on royalties from companies sales from the quarter ending September 1999. That means ADI's royalties paid to Aware in the December quarter were from their sales in the September quarter. The major ramp up really started the last quarter of 1999 and on. That means Aware's earnings are lagging a quarter behind the ramp up of DSL and yet they were still great. I think that is why they could say they were on the knee of the earnings curve and compared themselves to Qualcomm. It is because they can see into the future so to speak by what their customers sales are doing. And we all know what ADI is doing lately.

2. The other big item was their pending patents on Fast Retrain. They made it sound like that when they get their patents, they will be entitled to quite a few royalty payments from anyone and everyone who is using fast retrain. They also made it sound like that a lot of companies out their who would not normally be paying Aware royalties directly, will be soon because of the patents. Maybe someone can shed some more light on this.

3. I still am at a loss about Alcatel and its relationship as a competitor. Their name keeps popping up. Even in the conference call. I just don't know if they are a direct competitor or if they have some relationship with Aware.

Let's keep are fingers crossed for the stock this week.
