Spiral3 and all who answered my inquiry, thanks. One poster asked my reasons for shorting. I have no position yet, ELON just made my radar screen and I have just started my research. But it is a fair question as to why ELON attracted my attention. I was attracted by the rapid rise in market cap, some doubts I have about the desire of many consumers to put their home appliances on the net, and mostly by the following statement in a recent ELON press release:

"A recent market study by Allied Business Intelligence forecasts that the Residential Networks and Home Automation Subsystem industry will reach $6.2 billion in revenues by 2005."

This means that the current ELON market cap of $3 billion is 50% of the total revenue expected in this market sector 5 years hence. Looks a bit lofty to me, so it triggered my research.

I often "step in front of trains". Sometimes with big wins as in shorting ZITL. Sometimes I have to jump out of front of the train as with AMZN and YHOO. And sometimes the train hits me as with an ill timed KTEL short.

Currently I am shorting ZIXI, CTXS (again), SEBL, MFCO, SMSI. I have some very large long positions that I do not often trade, some are insider positions. Thus my shorts are mostly hedges against the long positions and I happily lose money on the short side in an up market.

Thanks to all for the civil replies. One of my "short flags" is when a short posting on a thread is attacked by nervous longs, didn't happen here which means that the longs are confident in their positions.
