Elmer,

That's not a victim but a freeloader. Intel got tired of carrying a deadbeat and AMD has been whining ever since.

That's odd, I thought what I heard was Dell and Gateway whining about Intel not being able to meet their commitments.

Elmer,

Re:Victim??? That's a laugh. AMD made 100s of $Millions$ off Intel's designs and never gave anything back in return.

That's not a victim but a freeloader. Intel got tired of carrying a deadbeat and AMD has been whining ever since. Intel simply cut off the welfare payments to it's deadbeat partner.

Now how could AMD have done that without *ntel approval?

As I recall, *ntel was required to have a "second source" for chip supply. AMD was the chosen by *ntel to be that second source and *ntel gladly delivers the production masks to AMD's doors. All this occurred so *ntel could "win the contract" and get their first big break. After *ntel builds enough fab plants world wide, it no longer needs the second source supplier AMD. AMD is forced to court and the rest is history.

No freeloader in this story, no welfare payments in this story and no deadbeat partner in this story. There is however a treacherous and deceitful partner in this story.

It'a all sad. Where I grew up a man's word was a man's worth. It may come back to that yet, deceit has a way of finding its origins.
