Zeev: I love that (Register) site. "Biting the hand that feeds it",....says it all (g) I had caught the rumours about lower-than expected PS2 sales (so far) and of a possible recall due to problems, but I did not know that the memory might be involved. Appreciate the heads up. On another RMBS related front, I've been digging for details as to the royalty situation re the PS2. So far, I have not unearthed the specific details, but it appears that Sony is paying a trivial amount. Rambus can be expected to try to mask this (not sure how yet) but the Q1-Q2 RMBS numbers should provide evidence of this fact. If I could see even a hint of field acceptance of RMBS, I'd probably relent a bit on my bearish view of this company, but so far, it is both a non-event and persona-non-grata out there. Here is another surprise (at least to me). We did a very amateurish survey of some funds that love this stock. A large percentage of those contacted did not know that the company doesn't manufacture the technology. Wow! Sooner or later the market is going to have to come to grips with the fact that a "long" bet on this company is really a bet that Intel can force this technology down the throats of an industry that (a) doesn't like or want it and (b) isn't interested in seeing Intel re-acquire any form of monopoly with respect to component supply. It is also a bet that the high end of the PC market will somehow become a consequential percentage of the total PC market. Pretty tough odds in my opinion. Now as for the company's ability to earn profits that will support even a tiny fraction of its market cap,.... (g) best, Earlie
